About the Taskforce
The Taskforce: Unlocking capital for female investors and entrepreneurs
Case for change
Female entrepreneurs have huge potential – they deliver 35% higher returns on investment than their male counterparts [Kauffman Fellows] and could add £250 billion to the UK economy if they started and scaled at the same rate as men [Rose Review]. But only 2% of equity investment in the UK goes to all-female teams. [Beauhurst 2024]
Part of the reason is who is holding the money. In the UK, just 15% of senior investment teams are women [BCVA Level 20]. Yet, we know that women are twice as likely to invest in other women [Kauffman Fellows]. That’s why the Invest in Women Taskforce is built around one simple idea: female investors backing female entrepreneurs.
Our solution
The Taskforce has so far convened over half a billion pounds in funding from eight leading investors: Barclays, M&G, The British Business Bank, Morgan Stanley, BGF, The Visa Foundation, Nationwide and Aviva. Each of these investors have committed new funding and there are two ways this capital will reach female and mixed investors and founders:
- Fund of Funds: The Taskforce are working with Bootstrap4F, to establish a Fund-of-Funds model that will channel capital from a number of institutional investors to female-led or mixed funds, ensuring that investment flows to female or mixed businesses.
- Partner Programmes: The British Business Bank, BGF, Aviva and Morgan Stanley will deploy new capital through their own programmes, aligned with the Taskforce’s mission of backing more female and mixed fund managers and founders.

By shifting who makes investment decisions and where the capital flows, we’re laying the foundations for a fairer more inclusive investment ecosystem – one where more female investors and entrepreneurs can thrive.
